A Sep7Ro teacher at the biggest chess event in the world
In September 2026, Alina, an online chess teacher at Sep7Ro, represented the Republic of Moldova at the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. It was her third Olympiad as a member of the national team.
For us, it is a source of pride. For the parents of her students, it is proof that their children are learning from someone who plays chess at the highest level.

What is the Chess Olympiad
The Chess Olympiad is the team competition organized by FIDE, the International Chess Federation, every two years. Each country sends its best players, who play for their flag, not for themselves.
The 2026 edition brought together players from around 200 countries. It is essentially a world team championship, where every game counts toward the country’s ranking.

Three Olympiads, three continents
Samarkand was not Alina’s first experience of this kind. Her Olympiad journey so far:
| Year | City | Country |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 | Samarkand | Uzbekistan |
| 2024 | Budapest | Hungary |
| 2022 | Chennai | India |
Between rounds, Alina had time to explore Samarkand, one of the oldest cities on the Silk Road, known for its breathtaking Central Asian architecture. Chess takes you to places you might otherwise never see.
Meeting the Sep7Ro team in person for the first time
Alina has been teaching at Sep7Ro for over half a year, but until the Olympiad she had never met the school’s founder, Mr. Septi, in person. He made a special trip to Samarkand for a short visit, and it became one of the highlights of her journey.
While Alina was preparing and playing for Moldova, her fellow teachers covered her classes so that no student missed a lesson. That is how a team works: when one of us gets a big opportunity, the others have their back.

What this means for your child
Alina is back to teaching online and already has plenty to share with her students, both about the games she played and about what it means to represent a country. A teacher who plays at this level brings into the classroom:
- experience with the pressure of real competition and how to handle it;
- ideas and openings seen first-hand from the best players in the world;
- a living example that chess can become a lifelong passion and a way to see the world.
